Well is a medium-sized tabletop vase balancing a broad, stable base with a sharply defined rim, as though both belonged to the remaining fragment of a larger structure. The openings on either side lighten the form and establish a quiet sense of equilibrium, allowing the weight of the clay to feel unexpectedly suspended.

The piece is finished using the Raku firing process, where oxidation and reduction unfold in succession. After reaching its firing temperature, the glowing ceramic is removed from the kiln and placed into a sealed container filled with combustible material. As oxygen disappears, reduction transforms both the glaze and the clay, producing surfaces that remain unique to each firing.
