Vases
Pillar is a tabletop vase designed for a small floral arrangement. Its upright form gives a single stem or a few branches enough presence, allowing the flowers to continue the vertical movement already contained within the clay.
The piece is finished using the Raku firing process, where oxidation and reduction unfold in succession. After reaching its firing temperature, the glowing ceramic is removed from the kiln and placed into a sealed container filled with combustible material. As oxygen disappears, reduction transforms both the glaze and the clay, producing surfaces that remain unique to each firing.
