Grip I is a wall vase combines ceramic with a climbing rope and carabiner, introducing materials usually associated with movement and ascent. Against the rough clay surface they bring an unexpected lightness. The different elements gradually settle into balance, giving the objects a quiet sense of play.

Vase finished with a glaze made from seaweed collected along the northern coast of Germany. The surface carries subtle variations in tone and texture, giving the clay an appearance that feels shaped as much by natural processes as by the firing itself.
