Nikita Evglevskii

Bronze is a tabletop vase with a substantial weight. Its textured surface recalls the grain of tree bark, where fine ridges catch the light and reveal the movement left by the clay during its making.

The piece is finished using the Raku firing process, where oxidation and reduction unfold in succession. After reaching its firing temperature, the glowing ceramic is removed from the kiln and placed into a sealed container filled with combustible material. As oxygen disappears, reduction transforms both the glaze and the clay, producing surfaces that remain unique to each firing.
