Incense boxes
Archival II is a lidded Incense container resembles a jewelry box, yet it suggests holding something less tangible. A fragrance can become a vessel for memory, preserving a season, a room, or the trace of someone who has long since disappeared.
This piece remains unglazed, allowing the texture of the clay to stay exposed. It was finished in a pit firing, where flame, smoke, ash, and organic materials leave unpredictable marks permanently embedded in the surface.
